Music to our ears…
Posted by: | CommentsDon’t you just love music? Music can change or enhance a mood, set a tone or connect to your soul. Decorating your home should take in all of your senses, so what you hear is just as important as what you don’t. What do you hear in your home… I am sure many things on a daily basis…conversation, laughter, yelling, barking, the TV, silence? Each of those things may take a turn being heard, but when you are mindful of what you are hearing on a daily basis, it gives you control over what you may want your home to reflect. Joy and laughter, music and conversation, quiet and peaceful. Maybe using music can help you set the tone of your home.
I just love music and I rarely have it quiet, unless I am reading or in prayer. I am lucky to have a Mac in the center of my home with all of my music downloaded onto it. (Love it!) Each type of music is in a separate file, so if I am in the mood for 3 Doors Down, Chris Rice, Lenka, Martina McBride, or Andre Bocelli, I can listen with the click of a mouse. I can listen while at my computer, while cooking dinner, or while hanging out with my family or friends.
I also have teenagers in my house, so their music is downloaded as well. Sharing music can sometimes be up for debate, but I want to be able to hear what they are listening to, learn what they like, and talk about their music. (There are times when the music is too loud, or when I can’t distinguish the lyrics!) Sometimes we agree on what is appropriate and other times I get to pull my “Parental Card” and veto a particular choice. (okay, sometimes this happens more often that I would like!)
I do want to encourage you to be mindful of what your home “sounds” like. What do you choose to listen to daily? Whatever it is, I hope it brings you joy, connects you with others, and is music to your ears…
All things home…
Posted by: | CommentsWelcome! I am so happy to have you stop by…
This blog is designed to bring you all things home. If you are looking for a great paint color, some design inspiration, a tasty recipe, or a tip on a unique shop to discover… this blog is for you. I will bring you tips and advice that I use for clients in my design business, along with the daily inspiration from my own life and home.
My mission is to empower women to live life creatively, celebrate the daily, and to embrace home. I am passionate about making our home life a functional, personal space that we and our families can thrive in, laugh in, and play in. Our homes should represent more than just a place sleep, eat, and store stuff. They should be places to restore our souls, connect with each other, and create legacies. They should handle dirty laundry, wet dog paws, and birthday parties. They should welcome us home each time we step in the door and fill our hearts with a sense of place and belonging. Our home should be an extension of who we are and should tell our story. It is my mission to share in this journey with you.
This is your blog too… let me know your thoughts, your inspiration, and your daily challenges. We are in this life together and what better way to get through it than together? Every time I sit down to write I will grab a cup of coffee or tea and ask you to join me. We can share what works, what doesn’t, and what makes us laugh or cry. We can talk about how to best bake a chewy cookie, how to artfully frame your child’s latest angelic photo, or what to do about the endless piles of junk mail. So, visit often, comment much, and share these posts with others on the journey.
Thanks for stopping by…Let’s Celebrate Life Everyday!
