Latest Women Who Create Magazine

Posted by: Erica | Comments (0)

Have you seen the latest issue of Women Who Create?

The Aug/Sept/Oct 2010 isssue is loaded with profiles of uber talented women and so much inspiration!

Peek inside the work spaces of editor Jo Packham, Wendy Addison, Amy Butler and the Junk Bonanza‘s Ki Nassauer So much to discover…  Look into Nancy Soriano‘s home office (past editor-in-chief of Country Living) and behind the scenes of the Curious Sofa‘s Debbie Dusenbury. We even get a glimpse into the creative studio of Kelly Rae Roberts… a treat not to be missed!

What inspiration did I take away from the magazine… well, after I get done hyperventilating over all of the talented women and their creative nests… (sorry, the creative excitement really gets to me!)  I really just love the stories.  Yes, it’s not about one person, their art, or even their studio.  It’s about each of the personal stories of how they got there, what makes them tick, how they fuel their creative energies, and how they find the time to create.  I am thoroughly inspired and motivated to make my own story count even more.

Almost all of these fabulous women can be seen this month at the CREATIVE CONNECTION EVENT in Minneapolis, MN.    Yes, can you say, how many talented women can you get into 3 fun-filed inspiring days?  Oh I can’t wait… I will be there for sure!  Will you?  Register here and now, so that you too can attend!

If you are attending the Creative Connection Event, please comment below and let me know… I will be sure to search you out!  If you aren’t able to attend, first go out and get the Where Women Create issue, read and wander through all of the delicious pages, then join us all online on our blogs so you too can experience the joy of women creating together.  Oh, that just sounds fun, doesn’t it?

Traveling in Retro-Style…

Posted by: Erica | Comments (0)

The lovely Linda MacDonald from over at Restyled Home posted a link to this wonderful travel option:

Snail Trail Campers. ConstanceExterior4

They are located north of London, England, so should you be traveling over there soon it is a great way to see the countryside and if you are not traveling over there real soon, this may give you reason to!   Either way, it is a fantastic idea and I’m glad I could pass it on. Constance177

They have an entire “fleet” of these darling retro campers, here are just a few I wanted to introduce you to…  Constance, Ruby, Flo

And here are Gracie, Matilda, and Nell and Betty.  Don’t you just love that they have such darling names?

Daily Creative: Master the Art of Living

Posted by: Erica | Comments (0)

I read a quote the other day and it really spoke to me.  I think I have always felt this way about what I do, but reading someone else’s thoughts about it, really struck me.  Here it is:

The master in the art of living make little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information DCC-3and his recreation, his love and his religion.   He hardly knows which is which.  He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing.  To him, he is always doing both.

That quote was written by James Michener.    I have always believed that God has created each one of us with distinct abilities that only we have.  When we are in our “sweet spot” as Max Lucado says, we are where God has designed us to be.  That spot is where we find this “mastery of living”, it is our ART.  It is who we were meant to be and it doesn’t feel like work, it is who we are.

So my creative challenge to you today is to really think about who you are.  Are you living the life you were designed to? Are you mastering your sweet spot?

IF you are… yea!  I am so thrilled for you, you have found your calling.  Rejoice in it and share it with us… please comment below.  IF you aren’t, it is time to really reflect on this challenge and maybe make some changes to your life.  Life after all, is far too short, and if we aren’t doing what we love and were designed for, then it’s probably about time we did.

Go ahead, what are you waiting for?  The world is waiting for you…
